People living with a brain injury were again asked by Digby Brown Solicitors to submit a piece of creative work to be used in our 2019 calendar. A separate piece was also chosen for our 2018 Christmas card.

We received over 150 entries this year from 20 brain injury groups across Scotland making judging very difficult - so many great entries!

activity.

“We are proud to co-ordinate an event that encourages
those with brain injuries to express themselves through art and celebrate their
incredible talents.”

Edinburgh & Lothians Head Injury Information Day 2019

Over 300 guests and 28 exhibitors attended our Head Injury Information Day in Edinburgh held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel on 29th May 2019.

This is the third year we have held the event in Edinburgh and the theme this year was ‘Overcoming Obstacles’ with speakers focussing on the various difficulties often faced following a brain injury and their advice on how to overcome them.

Attendees were able to hear from a number of inspirational speakers about overcoming behavioural problems, discussing issues claiming Personal Independence Payment (PiP) and hearing about the day in a life of an ABI survivor – to name just a few.

In addition they were able to visit a range of exhibitor stands who were there to share information about the services and support available to someone following a serious brain injury.

Glasgow & West Central Scotland Head Injury Information Day 2019

This year’s Head Injury Information Day in Glasgow proved to be the biggest and best yet with over 400 people and 38 exhibitors attending at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on Wednesday 22nd May.

These Head Injury Information Days are the only events of their kind in Scotland, offering vital information about the support available locally
for people with a head injury and their families.

This year’s theme was ‘Vision and Breakthroughs’, featuring presentations from leading professionals in the field including Professor Tom McMillan who discussed head injury and the criminal justice system and Professor Madeleine Grealy who spoke about how
exercise changes your brain. Chris Stewart, Partner within the Serious Injury team at Digby Brown, discussed a wide angle view of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the ripple effect for family, friends, work, spouses and children.

Lisa Ross, ABI Survivor and Peer Support Development Worker from Momentum Scotland, also spoke about her experience offering a unique insight into the impact of brain injuries after her incredible recovery was highlighted in the national media including the Daily Record and The Scotsman.
