Kelly Christie

Brain injury survivor

I had my brain injury over 14 years ago now and my life has changed ever since.

I used to work as a busy chef before my accident but after my ABI I could not go back to that role – it took me a long time to recover but I could never do it without the support of my wonderful daughter Megan.

But when the time was right, I re-trained as a nail technician and opened my own beauty business – Jewels Not Tools.

My efforts led to the earning of an outstanding achievement award at the Scottish Business Awards and I also took part in London Fashion Week where I helped in the cosmetic treatments of models such as Georgia May Jagger.

However my new passion is in helping people and after recently volunteering with Samaritans I am now working as a mental health peer support worker for Hillcrest Futures.
