Dr Ally Rooney

Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, Robert Fergusson Unit

Dr. Ally Rooney is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at the Robert Fergusson Unit, which is the national NHS inpatient unit for people with acquired brain injury and challenging behaviour. He studied undergraduate medical psychology and medicine at Dundee University before completing psychiatry training in NHS Fife and NHS Lothian. Separately he spent nine years in full-time research at Edinburgh University, completing an MD in clinical research and a PhD in neuroscience.

 

His research interests include neuropsychiatric rehabilitation after a brain tumour, and mechanisms of neuroplasticity in psychiatric recovery.
