Major Trauma Dietician, West of Scotland Major Trauma Centre
Elisabeth has worked as a registered Dietitian for nearly 20 years across a variety of clinical and project areas, including secondments to NHS GGC Nursing Practice Development and Allied Health Professions Practice Education. For a number of years, she specialised in Care of the Older adult and was an NHS Education for Scotland Dementia Champion but has recently moved into a clinical role within The West of Scotland Major Trauma Centre and Hyperacute service at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. This role focusses on the importance of adequate and appropriate nutrition post traumatic injury, underpinning indiviudals recovery and rehabilitation. Elisabeth currently job shares clinical and dietetic Practice Development roles, focussing on the mentorship and professional development of new graduate Dietitians, promotion of quality improvement methodology to enhance patient centred care and the of use digital technologies in practice.
Claire McGeehan
Occupational Therapist, West of Scotland Major Trauma Centre
Claire has worked as an Occupational Therapist for almost 24 years across a variety of clinical settings and roles in both Ireland and Scotland and has always had a keen interest in trauma.
For a number of years, she specialised in Orthopaedics covering The Scottish National Brachial Plexus Injury Service and from there moved to Major Trauma Coordinator Role when the Major Trauma service in The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital was being established. She then moved to National Spinal Injuries Unit for 2 year in Team Lead capacity and took up current post in Hyper Acute Major Trauma in April 2023.
Current role focuses on the early assessment and treatment of patients who present with traumatic mechanism of injury who require early intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation. Claire is currently completing additional cognitive rehabilitation training to support her in this role.
